DSOs vs. Private Practices – The Dentist Review

DSOs Also known as dental service companies, are large corporate conglomerates who license their brands as well as computer systems, software, and machinery to local dentists.

Dental DSO businesses often offer dental services to dentists living in remote areas. These dentists still work largely independently, similar to private practice. However, their support staff generally is provided. This lets dentists spend more time doing their job.

Dentists who belong to of DSO firms are awarded additional recognition through brand recognition and, on average, are paid greater. Recent years have seen DSOs have been expanding their reach to more urban and suburban zones. They have also been replacing and bringing in competition with private practices.

On the other hand private practice offers dentists greater flexibility and less liability. Private practices do not have as many staff in the sense that dentists that run private practices may need extra administrative work.

However, controlling a business that has fewer rules and standards makes private dental practices able to choose their clientele and potentially make much more money than those working for DSOs.
